I had been interested in Complementary Therapies while living in South Africa but it was only when I came back to Aberdeen that I discovered Reiki.

I was working as a Hairstylist at the time with two small children and was very  ‘run-down ‘ when I found a wonderful book in the local library. After reading that book …. I felt that this was what I had been searching for.

They say that Reiki ‘comes to you at the right time in your life’ and it certainly did for me !!

I had never had a treatment and Reiki as a therapy was not well known at that time but that book about a Commune using Reiki in their daily life just spoke to me !

I was having a drink in a Health Juice bar one day when I spotted a few therapist leaflets lying around. One of them contained the names of two Reiki Masters offering training.

The first one was moving away to Australia so I called the second number. That was back in July 1998 that I found the lovely Elizabeth Harley and did my Reiki 1, Reiki 2, Advanced Reiki and Mastership programme with her then completing my training in December 2000.

I started teaching my own Reiki Workshops but wanted more … so I went on to do my Karuna Masters with David Burton in 2001 and then Sekhem with Vicki Rebecca ………. however I no longer work with the Sekhem energy.

It all went a bit weird behind the scenes with political nonsence so I walked away. I believe it has changed names to SourceStar with a completely different energy.

I then updated my Karuna Reiki Masters with Morag Rollo in December 2010.

It was a time of personal self-development for me as well as helping to improve my own health. I was able to combine Reiki with my other therapies as a form of Stressbusters as well as on it’s own.

Even now, it never ceases to amaze me how Reiki just ‘ knows exactly what is needed.

At the time of finishing my Masters training, a lot of new undiscovered ‘Original Japanese teachings’ were coming out of Japan via Reiki Masters Frank Arjava Petter , Walter Lubeck and many others.

‘Masters’ just means Teacher and students can choose whether to just do that level of training for personal self-development and family use or go on to share that knowledge with others by running their own Workshops.

I incorporated these teachings into my teaching with my Students but didn’t really practise them myself at the time.

I taught Reiki and Karuna up to Master level for many years, but felt that I somehow needed to tie up all the teachings that were around at the time.

I also encorporated Crystals, Smudging, Chakra work etc in my Reiki teaching and over the years, added some things and let others go and I had been reading more and more about the Original Japanese teachings and became more interested in…….. what I would call ‘Authentic Reiki ‘ without all the ‘ added extras ‘……… and the Qi Gong energy exercises.

I had also been noticing Taggart King’s name kept coming up for me over the years and when I finally had a look on his site …. I discovered everything that I had been looking for !!

So I re-trained with Taggart King at Reiki Evolution and now run my Reiki Workshops along the same lines using his Professional and Informative Manuals, Audio CD’s and Training DVD. I am on the Reiki Evolution website as his Teacher for Aberdeen.

At the end of 2019 I went on to do Karuna Ki Reiki with Aimee Phlegar and have now blended it with the Karuna from my original William Rand training.

It is such a beautiful energy with the word KARUNA in Sanskrit meaning  “Compassion or Compassionate Love” and you really feel that energy when you work with it.

This year (2022) I have been putting together several Reiki combination Workshops that are open to Reiki 2 Practitioner and Master level students.
